Why We Cover Up Our Feelings

At a very basic level we suppress our feelings to others and our own selves when we fear we will be judged or won’t get our needs met. It creates a lack of clarity over time and we can lose our way in determining what matters most. This turns into a day-to-day pattern that gets harder and harder to break through. This is how we forget how we really are on the inside.

People who suppress their truth are motivated to hide the truth and it starts the moment they wake up in the morning. As they assess their day, fear motivates them to structure their day around what makes them feel safe and happy. Worries and concerns are always at the top of the list.

Our brains want to HIDE what we perceive is wrong with us. This could be something like, “I’m not good enough”. Then the brain seeks to hide that from others.

More layers of suppression occur when their tribe, or family, have similar patterns. If it isn’t safe for a person to express their truth to their family, suppression happens. This means people are suppressing the natural state of who they are! This then veils something about what we are on the inside. But we can change it in ourselves from the level of our beliefs, when we find the motivation within us. Then we can begin unveiling the truth, which results in beginning to live your authentic life. This leads to being able to stand in your power and make conscious choices about what will help you be authentic and happy.

It is vitally important to reframe and re-pattern the habits of hiding the truth, so we can be healthy. Suppression leads to ill health because the energies have not been released and cleared from the energetic bodies, especially the physical energetic body.

Children and SuppressionUnveiling the truth, little white lies, advanced energy healing, Mike Peterson PTSD Expert

Children suppress the truth of themselves when they’ve been told to be subordinate, obedient and because they have a deep need to belong. Teenagers, add new layers of suppression energies on self-expression when they fear being judged, would rather use avoidance energy, fear being rejected, blamed or humiliated, for example. The strain of veiling and suppressing leads to the use of other coping mechanisms, which creates multiple layers that must be cleared for optimal health.

In the popular UK and USA childhood rhyme “Johnny, Johnny. Yes, papa?” it is about parenting and children telling lies. It was most likely created to support parents talking to their children about telling lies. Perhaps you have heard it:

Johnny, Johnny!
Yes, Papa?
Eating sugar?
No, Papa.
Telling lies?
No, Papa.
Open your mouth!
Ha! Ha! Ha!

In this example, the father could easily ask the child, “What does having sweets do for you?” or “What is the good thing that comes to you, when you eat sweets right now?” The child may answer, “Then I will feel good.” If this is the case, the father can then talk about feelings with his child. Children, like adults, learn to use food as a coping mechanism for uncomfortable emotions and feelings in the body early on.

Most children have been denied the right to have needs, which is a basic right for human beings. Children learn very early on that it is not okay to have needs, so when their needs come up they suppress them with some logical story about why it isn’t okay for them to get their needs met in the moment; Or they lie (denial for fear of punishment) or they steal/sneak (sugar, in this example) to get their needs met. This is laying the pattern for a problematic future adult experience.

Why Unveiling the Truth is Important

Energetically, when we believe we can’t get our needs met, we go into a state of hopelessness, which can lead to apathy (“I don’t care”) which left unchecked leads to feelings of despair (“It’s hopeless”) and that can move into abdication (“I’m powerless”).

If people don’t unveil the truth, people often get labeled, for example, as liars because others feel the energy of suppression and leap to noticing that “you’re lying” or “you’re not telling the truth”.

If people repeatedly make little white lies, this can result in a belief being implanted in the brain, such as, “when I lie, I get my needs met”.

When we hide from our true potentials, we focus on what we don’t want, and can give up. When we stand in our power and truth, we can say in a moment of uncertainty, “I don’t know what I’m doing, but that is okay, and I can still express who I am, and feel good about that.”

It’s not just about creating integrity; it’s about creating health in the body. Therefore, it is important to undo the little white lies. And releasing the limiting beliefs that you can’t get your needs met is how you create change in your life.

Unveiling the truth creates health in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual energetic bodies. Great mental habits begin with a choice.
